"The Molting" Chapter 2 Release

Saturday will be a busy night. We're excited to be releasing issue number two of "The Molting" which I've had the opportunity to be coloring. In celebration, artist and creator, Terrance Zdunich along with Letterer, Yano Ransford and myself will be on hand for a book signing at the Nuart Theater, "L.A's Premiere Art House", in Santa Monica. The signing will go from 10:00 p.m. to midnight. Screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show will follow. The Theater's address is below.

Horror Art Show - Sat., Dec. 5th

"15 Days of Corpsemas"

Girls and Corpses magazine and the Hyaena Gallery in Burbank will be putting together a horror art show for the holidays involving 15 of the "hottest horror artists alive". The show will run from Dec. 1 thru the 15th.

The opening reception on Saturday the 5th will be hosted by Deaditor in Chief, Corpsy himself, Robert Steven Rhine and will feature the work of Brian Johnson, Mike Sosnowski, D.W. Frydendall, Frank Forte, Big Tasty and more.

Count Smokula will be there playing holiday tunes on the accordion, you can have your photo taken on Santa Corpse's lap and enjoy wine, cheese, corpses and girls. Should be a merry christmas time.

So mark your calendars for Saturday, December 5th from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. Gallery address is below.

Slipknot Show in Vegas Fucking Rocked!

I had an excellent time at the Slipknot show in Vegas over Halloween. This wasn't just a show you watched but felt. I can still feel my shirt vibrating from the intensity and sound.

I can tell you more when I have more time but right now enjoy the photos above, taken by David Lundberg who I met backstage. Thanks for the photos David, these are awesome!

Fangoria's Trinity of Terror - Halloween Weekend

Three words: Halloween - Weekend - Las Vegas!!! This Halloween I'll be attending Fangoria's Trinity of Terror. Fangoria has added a fourth show this year that will be held in Las Vegas at the Palms Casino Resort. Three days of terror with music, movies, and the macabre. Live music from Puscifer, Slipknot and Rob Zombie.

If you're going to be in Vegas for Halloween, stop by and say hi. If you're not going to be in Vegas for Halloween, you should rethink you're Halloween plans...and go to Vegas. I'll be there selling limited edition prints of my work.

A few friends will be joining me this weekend - emmy award winning special EFX make-up artist Eric Lusk with Creature Cabin, monster painter extraordinaire Mike "The Soz" Sosnowski with Soz Studios, and unveiling his new series of preview comics, Geo Brawn with Brawn Graphix and Creations.

Graphic Novel Book Signing - Next Friday

Great news, the first issue of The Molting comic is now finished!!The Molting is a new graphic novel from the creator of Repo! The Genetic Opera. This issue, Guilty Susie, is the first in a series of 13 that will be self-distributed by illustrator/writer, Terrance Zdunich. This issue is lettered by Yano Ransford and colored by myself.

To celebrate it's release, all three of us will be getting together for a book signing in Los Angeles at the Regency Fairfax Cinema on Friday October 25th. Following will be a midnight screening of Repo!, along with a live shadow cast performance from the group, Addicted to the Knife. Books will be available and the signing will take place between 10:00 pm and midnight. So arrive early, lines maybe long for this event.

The Molting Cover - 1st Issue Limited Edition Prints

I've been keeping busy with a few different projects lately. One of them has been a collaboration on a graphic novel. I've had the opportunity to work with a couple good friends of mine, Terrance Zdunich, creator of the comic, and Yano Ransford, graphic designer.

I knew Terry had already written the story and when he told me he had started penciling and inking, I went over to his place to check out the work. It was developing nicely and I could see he was enjoying the drawing process once again - after a long stint of wearing several hats to get Repo! developed, filmed and promoted.

After seeing the first couple spreads for the first issue, I told him he should let me color the cover. I said, "Give me a few days, let me play around with it and see if I can come up with something that fits". He was excited to find out that I was available, then he proceeded to tell me how my mother inspired the fat stepmother's character in the wheel chair. Nice. After all, she had been losing some weight.

I colored the cover and Yano was already on board to create the logo and graphics for it and a few whiskeys later, we finalized it.

To help promote the graphic novel which will be created as a series of chapters, each released as an individual comic book, the final cover art for the first issue will be available as an 11x17 limited edition collectors print. Only 1000 will be available.

Monsterpalooza 2009 Photos

I attended Monsterpalooza this year. This was the first year for this show and although quite a bit slower then Fangoria, it was a great show! I had a shit load of fun... met a lot of cool people and artists. I hope to see all of them next year as Eliot Brodsky continues the program. Here are some photos from the event...

O.k., the profanity is uncalled for. And I must apologize. If your eyes are bleeding and you feel slightly dizzy from the experience, it's o.k., you won't be charged extra.

I was going to end this little horror fix tour with Monsterpallooza in Burbank, but something exciting has come up and were going to Seattle!!!

I'm not going to tell you what is happening right now, but I will tell you where...the Crypticon horror convention at Seattle Center June 5th through the 7th. For those who don't know, Crypticon is put together by Cryptic magazine and this is their second year in Seattle. They have a great website featuring illustrations from David Hartman (sideshowmonkey.com) that you can check out here.

They also have a great line up. Bill Johnson, Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 will be there signing autographs as well as Howard Sherman, Bub from Day of the Dead and the cast from Phantasm, including director Don Coscarelli.

This is going to be a great weekend so mark your calendars!

The Bat Cave

I've been approached by Vamps and Tramps to show my work for a one night affair at Los Angeles's new gothic -industrial fetish club. How can you pass up a night of beautiful, scantily clad women, getting whipped and tasered? Did I mention Ministry will be there?

If your in the Los Angeles area, come check out The Bat Cave, Friday night May 15th at 3211 Beverly Blvd. Doors open at 10:00 and close at 2:00. They have 2 full bars, including an absinthe bar. The Bat Cave comes alive every third Friday of the month.

I'll be the one in the rubber suit and gas mask, so come up, kick me in the nuts and say hi...but ONLY if I'm wearing my rubber suit and gas mask.

Monsterpalooza!!!

I don't know how to top the fun and excitement I had at Fangoria in Los Angeles last week, but I'm going to try - at Monsterpalooza in Burbank! The art of monsters convention will start Friday May 29th and will go all weekend until Sunday the 31st.

I'm wicked excited about the artists that will be there, including Bernie Wrightson, Basil Gogos, The Chiodo Brothers (Killer Clowns from Outer Space, anyone?), William Stout (designer, dare I say it, of one of the best zombie movies ever made), and of course myself.

Holly shit balls! I'm going to try not to piss myself. 'Cause nobody likes hanging out with the kid with wet pants that smells like Cheerios.

I fear I've said too much...

The Store!!!

The HorrorIllustration.com store has now been officially launched!

The launch party was a success...Sepultura, Slayer and Slipknot played. And they sounded great. As well did the other bands I had in my itunes line up.

There was a lot of whiskey, and I may have done a few things I shouldn't have...let's just say I broke a couple of my own rules.

Three words.

Ok., o.k, so there was no rodeo....and, the whole event was far less interesting...I spent the evening in my studio trying to figure out how to get an html box to say "store". But there was definitely a lot of whiskey.
